Get set for a Peppermint Sweetheart so you can drink your heart out. Yes, you can drink your heart out in addition to being able to lift your spirits as you enjoy this special cocktail invented at a special place inside the switched-on Saguaro hotel in glitzy Palm Springs.
That special place is called El Jefe, and the menu is as mean as the drinks, with small tastes similar to tapas on the menu that show off the fine food bites popular in trendy Mexico City haunts.
Meanwhile, there is that drink we mentioned. It’s a colorless affair that is in stark contrast to the vibrant hotel in the California desert from which it hails. And this snazzy boutique property is so exciting that fans of the Saguaro are often reminded of the glamour days when Frank Sinatra once drank in the beauty of Palm Springs, Hollywood’s favorite Golden State getaway.
To be sure, Ole Blue Eyes would have loved El Jefe, especially for the simplicity of this hearty libation that looks lethal but is quite sweet — something akin to Sinatra himself.
So, be sure to send some good cheer to the famous crooner called Frank Sinatra as you imbibe in this tasty beverage that comes from a Palm Springs gathering spot swelling with a whole lot of heart. And then, after you do, don’t be surprised if you start singing “My Funny Valentine” even when it’s not Feb 14.
That said, here’s the simple Peppermint Sweetheart recipe:
Ingredients:
- ¾ ounce peppermint schnapps
- 1½ ounces vanilla vodka
- 1½ white creme de cacao
- Crushed peppermint to rub on the rim
Instructions:
After you rim a martini glass with the crushed peppermints, set the setup aside. Then add schnapps, vodka, creme de cacao, and ice to a shaker. Shake well and then strain into the peppermint-rimmed martini glass. Voila! You’re donee, and the cocktail of your dreams is there right in front of you.
Not in the mood for a drink for one because you don’t feel like drinking alone? Then make two orders of the Peppermint Sweetheart to share with someone you love or with someone you want to love.
After all, you never know what will happen after discovering this alcoholic treat that comes straight from El Jefe at the Saguaro, a festive gathering spot in central Palm Springs where you’re sure to meet lots of potential mates and even some true friends, too. Bottoms up!
